A one-year fellowship is available immediately at the European Institute of Oncology – Department of Experimental Oncology, to join the Bioinformatics Unit. The bioinformatics unit works at the interface between the research groups, the technological units and the ICT services.
The candidate will be trained within the Genomics Unit, which provides state-of-the-art genomic services to the Department community (NGS, Single cell, Single molecule sequencing), and will collaborate for the management of the sequencing data and the implementation and improvement of bioinformatics pipelines, as well as their integration in current platforms.
Job requirements: Essential (E) and Optional (O):
- A degree in bioinformatics. Degrees in computer science and biology with experience in bioinformatics will be considered as well (E),
- Good knowledge of Linux environment (E),
- Good knowledge of scripting and programing languages (for instance R, python, java) (E),
- Knowledge of next generation sequencing enviroments (E),
- Experience in the management of bioinformatics pipelines (E),
- Knowledge of Nextflow or other pipeline management systems (O),
- Previous usage of containers (Docker, Singularity or equivalent) for data reproducibility (O),
- Experience with HPC platforms (O),
- Experience with cloud platforms (OpenStack, Azure, AWS, GCP) (O)
- Experience with database and web development. (O)
Given the international framework, the candidate should also have a good level of English, have good communication skills and a team-oriented working attitude.
